COURSE DESCRIPTION


M.Sc. Mathematics or Master of Science in Mathematics is a postgraduate Mathematics course. Mathematics is the study of quantity, structure, space, and change. Mathematicians seek out patterns and formulate new conjectures which resolve the truth or falsity of conjectures by mathematical proofs. The duration of M.Sc. in Mathematics is mostly of two academic years but it may vary from institute to institute. The Master degree course is offered by many colleges/universities (both private and government) throughout the country. After having passed the degree course candidates can go for many jobs in various places.


M.Sc. Mathematics Eligibility

  • Candidates should have a pass B.Sc.(Mathematics) or B.Sc.( Mathematics and computer applications) degree or any other degree of other university as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for P.G admission.
  • A pass in the B.Sc. Degree with a minimum aggregate of 60% is desirable but the marks of admission for the course may vary from University to University.

M.Sc. Mathematics Course Suitability

  • Those who are willing to go for teaching fields at higher degree level i.e. college and university level both in private and government institutions are good suit for the course.
  • They should have skills like analysing and interpreting the resultant data, finding patterns and drawing conclusions.
  • They also have the habit of designing and conducting observational and experimental studies that is crucial during the course.
  • Applicants must have the ability to approach problems in an analytical and rigorous way and to formulate theories and apply them to solve problems.
