B.A. Home Science or Bachelor of Arts in Home Science is an undergraduate professional Home Science course. Home Science covers the study of nutrition, health and growth measures including the science that deals with the surroundings and environment. The degree course mainly comprises of the study of the major topics of Home Science like Food Science, Fundamentals of Resource Management, Foundations of Human Development, Introduction to Fabric and Apparel Science, Foundations of Food and Nutrition, etc. In other words, B.A. (Home Science) is a degree course that includes the study of many disciplines such as chemistry, physics, physiology, biology, hygiene, economics, rural development, child development, sociology and family relations, community living, art, food, nutrition, clothing, textiles and home management. This is three years duration course and the syllabus is divided into six papers.

• The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing a B.A. (Home Science) degree is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream from a recognised school board in the country.
• Some of the very reputed colleges and institutes demand a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 as qualifying criteria to secure admission in this degree course.

• Production jobs cover the food preservation, dress-making, specialized cooking, etc. Graduates of Home Science can enter the textile business, fashion designing etc. or even work in hotels, the food industry etc.
• Research jobs involve educating specific segments of the population such as mothers, farmers, and villagers on the food value of certain food items.
• Sales jobs comprise sales promotion of food items (baby foods) are given to home science graduates granted they have relevant information and experience.
