B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science or Bachelor of Science Honours in Home Science is an undergraduate Home Science course. Home Science is the profession and field of study that deals with the economics and management of the home and community. B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science is a field of formal study including such topics as consumer education, institutional management, interior design, home furnishing, cleaning, handicrafts, sewing, clothing and textiles, commercial cooking, cooking, nutrition, food preservation, hygiene, child development, managing money, and family relationships. B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science is generally three academic year course and it may be provided on part time basis by certain institutes. The course has six semesters syllabus and it is career providing one to the candidates after its completion.

• The candidates should complete their 12^th or intermediate examination or an equivalent examination with any two Biology/Natural Sciences, Physical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and Vocational courses in Home Science.

B.Sc. (Hons.) Home Science Course Suitability

• Those who can organize things, have aesthetic and creative ability, good communication skills, aptitude for doing practical work related to household affairs and of course, common sense are the most suitable for it.
• They should have a logical mind along with realistic approach, and a balanced attitude.
• Other skills which required are the creativity with artistic visualization and they should be aware of health, diet and lifestyle.
• Those who are willing to go for teaching fields at higher degree level i.e. college and university level both in private and government institutions also are eligible for it.

• The degree course provides good and excellent base for higher degree program in respective subjects and then for further research work.
• They can become home science teacher in schools after it and after passing educational qualifications such as B.Ed. and NET (after post-graduation) can become permanent teacher and lecturer.
• Candidates have many options in jobs of food products, baby foods, ready to cook foodstuffs and garments are open to Home Science graduates.
• They have also the jobs options in technical fields comprising food analysts, food scientists, research assistants, demonstrators etc.
