COURSE DESCRIPTION

B.Tech. Biomedical Engineering or Bachelor of Technology Biomedical Engineering is an undergraduate Biomedical Engineering course. It deals with the field of science or technology and covers one of the main subjects Biomedical Engineering. Biomedical Engineering is the application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology. It combines the design and problem-solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to improve healthcare diagnosis, monitoring and therapy. The Bachelor of Technology degree program shall extend over a period of 8 consecutive semesters spread over 4 academic years – two semesters constituting one academic year. The duration of each semester shall normally be 15 weeks excluding examinations. The course is an important and job orienting one which opens a lot of career scopes for it.

B.Tech. Biomedical Engineering Eligibility

  • The candidates should complete their 10+2 or its equivalent exam with minimum of 45% marks (a mere pass for OBC and SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of subjects – Mathematics, Physics and any one of the following optional subjects: Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology (Botany & Zoology).
  • The marks of admission for this course may vary from college to college.
  • In various colleges it conducts entrance exams and percentage of 12th class for the admission of students.

B.Tech. Biomedical Engineering Course Suitability

  • Those who have analytical and problem-solving skills; computing and statistical skills gained through use of spreadsheets, databases and presentation packages found in most workplaces; data analysis, evaluation and interpretation skills are the most suitable one.
  • Second, others who have project management skills; numeracy skills; organizational skills - acquired, for example, through coping with lectures, practicals, study, part-time work and social activities also are good match for it.
  • Third, candidates with oral and written communication skills including the ability to identify, select, organize and communicate information concisely and team working skills also can go for it.

How is B.Tech. Biomedical Engineering Course Beneficial?

  • Bio-medical engineers and technologists can find job openings in a wide range of global industries such as modern health care, hospitals, medical equipment manufacturing units, industrial firms, educational and medical institutions, pharmaceuticals, government regulatory agencies and so on.
  • It is beneficial when they work in industries; they use their understanding of living systems and technology to design and test new products. Government positions often involve product testing as well as establishing safety standards for devices.
  • Medical Research is another beneficial area for biomedical engineers.
