COURSE DESCRIPTION


M.A. Fine Arts or Master of Arts in Fine Arts is a postgraduate Fine Arts course. It covers the Fine Art or the fine arts encompass art forms developed primarily for aesthetics and/or concept rather than practical application. Art is often a synonym for fine art, as employed in the term ‘art gallery’. During the course, fine art practice preparing the student for professional involvement within contemporary art and the creative industries. The student will undertake self-initiated research into current practice and theory of Fine Art and understand where their own work is situated within the field of contemporary art practice. MA Fine Art is delivered through individual studio practice, lectures, seminars, master classes and one-to-one tutorials. The duration of M.A. in Fine Arts is mostly of two academic years but it may vary from institute to institute. M.A. (Fine Arts) is very valuable in the field of arts, culture and other heritages of the country.

  • The candidates should complete their B.A. degree under any recognised University or College.
  • The marks of admission and entrance test for this course may vary from institute to institute.

M.A. Fine Arts Course Suitability

  • Students those who interested in Fine Arts and have strong observational and analytical skills, offering opinions on your own projects are most suitable for this course.
  • Those who are willing to go for teaching fields at higher degree level (college and university) both in private and government institutions are also good match for it.
  • Candidates who have knowledge and interest in history, theory of art and other cultural/sociological forces that have shaped artistic movements are also suitable for it.

How is M.A. Fine Arts Course Beneficial?

  • This degree course enables the students to go for Fine Arts programmes both at state and centre level such as the creative arts that includes advertising, crafts, cultural heritage, design, music, performing, literary and visual arts.
  • Second, it paves the way for higher degree programmes in respective subjects, e.g. M.Phil. Degree, etc.
  • Third, other place where candidates can find jobs; these include artist in residence, developing art-related activities in schools, hospitals and prisons or bidding for fixed-term funding to carry out a project or commission.
