COURSE DESCRIPTION


M.A. Political Science or Master of Arts in Political Science is a postgraduate Political Science course.  It is a two years program and the course includes a comprehensive and thorough study of Political Science as a discipline at an advanced level. M.A. (Political Science) course involves the study of the theory and practice of politics and description and analysis of political system and political behaviour. It also covers study of both national and international political systems, historical and modern political systems, public administration, governmental policies and procedures, international relations and public affairs. The study of this field includes topics such as Principles of Political Science, Indian Political System, Major Governments of the World, International Relations, etc. The course provides widespread career scopes to the candidates.


M.A. Political Science Eligibility

  • The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing M.A. (Political Science) degree is having graduation degree in any stream.
  • However, many of the reputed universities demand graduation degree with Honours in Political Science or Political Science as one of the subjects studied in graduation from any of the recognised university/college of the country for admission to M.A. (Political Science) degree course.
  • Some of the very reputed universities and institutes demand a minimum of 45-50% marks in graduation as qualifying criteria to secure admission in this course and some also conduct entrance examination to get admission to their M.A. (Political Science) degree course.
  • Selection to the degree course in these colleges is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e. total marks aggregated in the final exams of graduation and the entrance exam.

M.A. Political Science Course Suitability

  • Who have the ability of using established theories and concepts of social policy to analyse how social needs, problems and policies are constructed and understood in various contexts; undertake investigations into social issues, involving the use of various skills to identify a problem and collect, store, manage and manipulate data are also good for this course.
