COURSE DESCRIPTION


M.A. Public Administration or Master of Arts in Public Administration is a postgraduate Public Administration course. Public Administration is a comprehensive and thorough study of Public Administration as a discipline at an advanced level. M.A. (Public Administration) degree course covers the study of various Theories of Administration, Public Organisations, Financial Administration, Public Services and the Constitutional Framework. In other words, M.A. in (Public Administration) degree course is a study involving the study of a system through which the government carries out its business of ruling and controlling effectively. M.A. (Public Administration) degree course teaches and trains the students in democratic values such as equality, justice, security and order. It also prepares such human resources (called public administrators) who can critically analyse and review public policies of the government. The students are also taught to take the responsibility of determining the policies and programmes of the government. The course duration is two years with four semester syllabus.


M.A. Public Administration Eligibility

  • The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing M.A. (Public Administration) degree is having graduation degree in any stream.
  • However, many of the reputed universities demand graduation degree with Honours in Public Administration or Public Administration as one of the subjects studied in graduation from any of the recognised university/college of the country for admission to M.A. (Public Administration) degree course.
  • Some of the very reputed universities and institutes demand a minimum of 45-50% marks in graduation as qualifying criteria to secure admission in this course and some also conduct entrance examination to get admission to their M.A. (Public Administration) degree course.
  • Selection to the degree course in these colleges is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e. total marks aggregated in the final exams of graduation and the entrance exam.

M.A. Public Administration Course Suitability

  • Those who have a temperament of problem solving, organised approach, research skills, evaluation and analytical skills, sensitivity to the values and interests of others can go for this course.
  • Second, who possess good communication skills both written and verbal, teamwork, the ability to handle numerical data and proficiency in the use of information technology also are suitable match for it.
  • Applicants should have skills like good communication, leadership, problem solving; research and the like others.

How is M.A. Public Administration Course Beneficial?

  • M.A. (Public Administration) degree serves as a basis for further higher studies and research in this field such as Ph.D. and M.Phil. Degree in Public Administration.
  • On successful completion of Master’s degree in Public Administration, a student can apply for the UGC-NET or JRF exam; the success in these exams makes teaching or research as good options.
  • The greatest scope after doing M.A. Public Administration is that it not only makes you eligible but also gives you a better chance to qualify the Indian Civil Services exams but also many other options.
