COURSE DESCRIPTION


M.B.A. Entrepreneurship or Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship is a postgraduate Business Management course. Master of Business Administration is one the most sought after courses which can be attained by students of any stream. Entrepreneurship is the act of being an entrepreneur, which can be defined as one who undertakes innovations, finance and business acumen in an effort to transform innovations into economic goods. The duration of M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship is normally a two years program with two or more semesters but time duration may differ from institute to institute and also may be on part time basis by certain institutes.


M.B.A. Entrepreneurship Eligibility

  • Admission to any of the IIM (Indian Institutes of Management) schools requires passing Common Admission Test (CAT) along with graduate degree from a recognized college and university, however other business schools requires passing either CAT, XAT, GMAT, JMET or MAT each of which qualifies candidates for entrance into any management institutions in India.
  • Apart from these entrance tests there are few business schools which conducts aptitude test individually which qualifies candidates for that particular business school.  The short listed candidates of the IIMs and some other leading management institutes are expected to write essays.
  • Group discussions and personal interviews are also conducted generally to determine the personality traits and communication skills of the candidates. For many management colleges in India, Admission: Many B-schools offer admission to a candidate on the basis of the cumulative scores of the Entrance Exam, GD / PIs, and sometimes work experience.

M.B.A. Entrepreneurship Course Suitability

  • Those who are willing to go for teaching fields at higher degree level i.e. college and university level both in private and government institutions.
  • They should have strong technology skills or expertise in a key area, but these are not defining characteristics of entrepreneurship.
  • Other essential skills are creativity, the ability to keep going in the face of hardship, and the social skills needed to build great teams.
  • Those who want to have further degree/studies also can go for the course.

How is M.B.A. Entrepreneurship Course Beneficial?

  • They can go for higher degree programs in respective subjects such as M.Phil. & Ph.D. for further research studies.
  • The job of entrepreneur is not for everyone. You need to be hard-working, smart, creative, willing to take risks and good with people. You need to have heart, have motivation and have drive.
  • Places where a better idea, a little ingenuity or some aggressive marketing could really make a difference. Think about problems that people would pay to have a solution to. It helps to know finance. It's a must to really know your product area well.
  • They can also run their own business and help the business already established.

    Starting the venture: generating business idea – sources of new ideas, methods of generating ideas, creative problem solving, opportunity recognition; environmental scanning, competitor and industry analysis; feasibility study – market feasibility, technical/operational feasibility, financial feasibility; drawing business plan; preparing project report; presenting business plan to investors.

    Functional plans: marketing plan – marketing research for the new venture, steps in preparing marketing plan, contingency planning; organizational plan – form of ownership, designing organization structure, job design, manpower planning; Financial plan – cash budget, working capital, Performa income statement Performa cash flow, perform balance sheet, break even analysis.

    Sources of finance: debt or equity financing, commercial banks, venture capital; financial institutions supporting entrepreneurs; legal issues – intellectual property rights patents, trade marks, copy rights, trade secrets, licensing; franching.
