COURSE DESCRIPTION

M.Tech. Product Design & Manufacturing or Master of Technology in Product Design & Manufacturing is a postgraduate Production Engineering course. The program aims to impart creative ideas for product design. The course focuses on the ability to apply quantitative skills and models for the robust design of products and processes. It covers the structural, ergonomic and aesthetic design of products by creative, analytical, experimental and numerical approaches. Students trained under this program will be capable enough to take over the challenges related to the design and menu. The program mainly focuses on Product Design and Development, Product Life Cycle Management, Product Data Management, Robust Design, Simulation and Modelling of Systems, Optimization Techniques, Product Planning and Marketing, Design for Manufacture, Finite Element Modelling, etc.

M.Tech. Product Design & Manufacturing Eligibility

  • B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering/Industrial Engineering and Management/Industrial Production Engineering/Automobile Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering by securing not less than 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Some of the very renowned institutes conduct entrance examination for admission.

M.Tech. Product Design & Manufacturing Course Suitability

  • Those who possess in-depth, relevant manufacturing knowledge bridging engineering and management can go for the course.
  • The course is also suitable to provide the students in-depth knowledge of Process Modelling, Simulation, Production Modelling and Monitoring, Production Planning and Control, Intelligent Manufacturing, Engineering Optimization and in Product Development and Modelling.
  • Candidates willing to become lecturer and professor in colleges/universities also are suitable for it.

How is M.Tech. Product Design & Manufacturing Course Beneficial?

  • The course is beneficial to develop a flexible systems approach to originating, adapting and developing processes and systems to meet changing technological, management, economic and social criteria.
  • The course also explores the full range of benefits that may be achieved through advanced manufacturing technology and the need to match manufacturing techniques with the product, company and the market.
  • It will engender your understanding of the management role in the investigation, implementation and operation of manufacturing systems for efficiency, cost-effectiveness and quality of the product.
  • The course gives the opportunity to work in the areas of Product Life Cycle Management, Product Design and Development in association with the on-going research projects of the faculty members sponsored by agencies such as DRDO laboratories, ISRO, AICTE, DST and other agencies.
  • They may find employment as design engineers, manufacturing engineers, production engineers, engineering managers, systems engineers, or research and development engineers in companies such as automotive, appliances manufacturing and discrete manufacturing intending to adopt advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance the productivity and competitive advantage in the global market.
