Sir Padampat Singhania University has been established through an Act (Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur Act, 2008) of the State Government of Rajasthan. Sir Padampat Singhania University is recognised by UGC vide Letter No: F.9-8/2009(CPP-1) dated 13 April 2009 and Letter No: F.5-3/2017(CPP-1/PU) dated 18 April 2017. The university is empowered to award degrees as specified by the UGC under section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.
UGC conducted the mandatory inspection of the university on maintenance of minimum standards and, thereafter, recognized SPSU under section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 vide Letter No: F.9-8/2009(CPP-1/PU) dated 31 October 2014.
It is nearly half a century now that Late Sir Padampat Singhania, the visionary founder of the J K Organization dreamt of an empowered India populace, through whom India would take its place as an equal in the comity of nations. According to him, empowerment pre-supposes education and knowledge. That then became the cornerstone of the Organization’s philosophy for discharging its social responsibility and the J K Cement Nimbahera Foundation (JKCNF) was born. Over time, the involvement with education became stronger and deeper. Today, two decades later, it is associated with twelve educational institutions imparting education to nearly 14000 students at various levels of the learning curve.
The J K Cement Nimbahera Foundation envisioned the establishment of a world class University in Rajasthan benchmarked to international educational institutions. The Foundation constituted a think tank of eminent persons from the Industry, Science & Technology and academia who prepared the blue print of the university. Sir Padampat Singhania University has been recognized as Business Incubator/Institutions for implementation of the scheme “Support for Entrepreneurial and Managerial Development of SMEs through Incubators”, sponsored by Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. The SPSU Business Incubator aims at providing suitable environment and infrastructural support to the innovators at the early stages of idea generation and planning, thereby helping them to become technology based entrepreneurs. The indicative thrust areas for the Business Incubator include Bio-technology, Nano-technology, Information Technology, Ceramics Technology, Herbal Medicines, Auto components, Electronics and Electrical Appliances and Agricultural implements. In the first phase, four projects have been selected by the MSME New Delhi, Govt. of India to receive grant through the SPSU Business Incubator.
University also have Foreign Collaborations, Industrial Collaborations and Exchange Programmes.
Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) since July 2013. As a member, the University can take part in various activities conducted by AIU. AIU also helps the member Universities to ascertain the equivalence of foreign degrees in relation to corresponding Indian degrees.
Sir Padampat Singhania University is a unitary type of University located at Bhatewar, Udaipur, Rajasthan. The University does not have off campus centers / study centers anywhere in India and abroad.
